The Human Development and Family Studies Ambassadors (HDFSA) are a group of undergraduate students who assist the department with recruiting students for HDFS. HDFSA became a registered student organization at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Spring of 2014 with the purpose of enhancing undergraduate's leadership skills and marketability as HDFS majors. HDFSA members are leaders within the HDFS and Illinois community, and are passionate about sharing their experiences with HDFS and ACES. HDFSA members participate in tabling fairs, travel for high school visits and presentations, and attend campus-wide recruitment activities to answer admitted students’ questions about the major, campus, and student experience. HDFS students interested in joining can complete an application to participate in the interview selection process. All HDFS students are encouraged to apply. In the Spring of 2020, HDFSA shifted toward a department affiliated student organization advising model and is currently advised by the HDFS Undergraduate Recruiter ([email protected]).
